I'd use that term to refer to someone who has a personal stake in an issue; someone with a special interest. Eg, Exxon has an agenda, re climate change. I wouldn't use the term to describe someone who simply has a well-defined opinion on an issue, which is what I think you meant<br /><br />Interesting question, re are the Freakecon guys journalists, etc. I think Kolbert is right to hold them to a higher standard tho. Journalists interview experts and present the range of views (ideally) in as fair a way as possible. I believe the Freakecon guys did their own analysis, and seem to be making policy recommendations based on it. Which requires more expertise than journalism.<br /><br />They say they aren't experts on sumo wrestling, etc. But Freakecon works on sumo wrestling type question only because the issues are relatively simple.
