Lousy cell phone picture, but here is a New Orleans Jazz Band playing in the baggage claim area of Louis Armstrong International Airport tonight to welcome thousands of economists to the Big Easy. Note the logo on the Tuba (see below).I am staying just off Canal, close to the French Quarter and didn't think I would notice any difference here from when I was last here in 2001. Boy was I wrong. Half the buildings and storefronts here are vacant - in the center of New Orleans. I haven't been over to the French Quarter yet, but I suspect it will be better there. Sad.
Oh, and apparently there is something going on here on Monday that has brought in a bunch of Ohio State and LSU fans. Good thing I am out of here on Monday morning.
